Listen to this story in Tagalog From the time that I got married, I wasn't able to visit our house where I lived when I was young. It was my mother’s family’s house. Only my grandfather lives there now.
My father already passed away, and my mother is now working abroad. Because my mother was able to save up from her work as an OFW, she decided to have our house renovated. That house was already old anyway. There were places where water leaked when it's raining. And some of the doors were not anymore that sturdy.

Filipinos have always carried a baffling fascination for the supernatural. They, especially the young generations, grew up hearing scary tales of the "pugot na pari" who would roam the cemeteries at night or the white lady who would appear in front of the mirror if you stayed up so late at night. The classic book series Philippine Ghost Stories might have also been one of your precious possessions!
The school grounds did not escape such tales and if you would ask students, it seems that every school campus has their own taste of supernatural and paranormal phenomena. This article is a continuation of the post on the most haunted schools in the Philippines.

Believing in ghosts, vampires, and other mythical beings divides the believers from the skeptics. The existence of these out-of-this-world creatures has long been debated upon by people from different fields. However, Philippine culture has allowed the people to nurture a strong belief in the existence of powerful forces not of this earth.
I'm renting an old condo unit in Manila near our school. The age of the building is evident with its peeled off paints on the walls. Rent is cheap so it was convenient for me, and there are security guards on post as well. One night, I stayed out late with a couple of my friends and went home at around 4 AM. During that time, the elevator was already turned off (as per management rules) so I had to take the stairs to my unit on the fifth floor.
On March 29, 2002 (it was Good Friday), the nation was shocked at the untimely death of the matinee idol Rico Yan. According to police reports, Rico Yan was on a holiday trip with five friends at the Dos Palmas Resort in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. I almost lost you… Dahil gago ako at duwag… Natakot akong mahalin ka… ![]()
The Philippines has its own share of wonders similar to the famous Atlantis or El Dorado. Among many mysterious and enchanting places, the lost city of Biringan evokes the most awe and intrigue. Stories about this hidden city are particularly popular among the residents of Samar who believe that Biringan is more than just a legend.
Biringan is said to be a place of the engkantos (enchanted ones) in the humble area of Northern Samar in the Philippines. According to the beliefs, Biringan City is a highly advanced metropolitan filled with high-rise architecture and out-of-this-world structures, which are unusual to exist in such a rural area like Samar. Its beauty and grandeur are said to lure humans to come into their realm and stay there forever. ![]()
How can people forget about the sweet darling of the mass, Julie Vega?
Before we have Judy Ann Santos and Claudine Barretto, there was first Julia Pearl Postigo, popularly known as Julie Vega, an admired actress and singer during her generation up until now. She began her career at an early age of three as a television commercial model. She starred in the film "Mga Mata ni Angelita," a 1978 hit, which was considered to be her first major lead film that earned her respect, admiration and popularity. Julie Vega's career also includes "Mga Basang Sisiw," "Durugin Si Totoy Bato," "Mother Dear," and "Daddy's Little Angels." My girlfriend and I moved to an apartment in Calamba. It was a two-storey building and our apartment was on the rooftop. In the first few weeks of our stay there, I began to experience strange events. There were several times where I would hear a man whistling a merry tune and on some occasions I hear people conversing in the middle of the afternoon.
I didn't pay attention to it at first, but as days pass, I decided to tell my girlfriend about it. To my surprise, she too had the same experiences but was hesitant to tell me as well. She said she would sometimes catch a glimpse of someone rushing to the door. One time, her elder sister came to visit us. The spooky thing was that on her first day of staying with us, she said that she can sense something in the house, not something to be afraid of because it is in fact guarding the house. We were shocked to hear these things from her because we haven't yet told her about the odd things that happened to us. My family is renting two apartments in Mandaluyong City. The apartments are just beside each other. What we did is put a passage at the back so we can go through our second apartment.
Anyway, I was with my two children and my parents. We had a relative, she's about 50 years old I think, taking care of my younger child who was about two months old. Each apartment had two bedrooms, and the room of my younger sister is at the second apartment. On that day, there's no one in the second apartment since my sister went out for party. It was past midnight when my relative decided to go to the first apartment with my baby. |
